Steve Forbes Warns Democrats Will Be 'The Grinch Who Stole Christmas' If They Win Midterms

Businessman Steve Forbes has warned that a Democrat victory in the upcoming midterm elections will see the party being like "the Grinch who stole Christmas" over tax.

Forbes, who has twice run for the Republican presidential nomination, said in a radio interview with AM970 in New York on Sunday morning that there would be no new tax bill with a Democrat victory.

"You're not going to get a tax bill," he told radio host John Catsimatidis in the interview.

"They're going to try to disrupt deregulation, which has helped the American economy so much. And they'll try to raise taxes. So if you've enjoyed a tax cut, forget it! They will be the Grinch that stole Christmas," he added.

Forbes also suggested that the Democrats would try to destroy President Donald Trump should they take control of the House this fall.

"You're going to see countless investigations into president and his businesses," the magazine owner commented.

"They're going to try to destroy him. They will at some point push for impeachment, even though they haven't found yet found anything on which to impeach him. Saying they don't like him is not an impeachable offense," he added.

His comments come as a poll from NBC News and The Wall Street Journal suggested the Democrats are leading Republicans by 12 points in Congressional preference, while the president has previously suggested that his polling numbers would be higher if not for the ongoing Russia probe.

Trump also suggested at a rally in West Virginia on Saturday night that accusations of sexual misconduct against his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh were an example of Democrats trying to take back power "by any means necessary."

"They're determined to take back power by any means necessary. You see the meanness, the nastiness," he said.

"They don't care who they hurt, who they have to run over to get power. We're not going to give it to them," the president added.
