Amid adult film star Stormy Daniels's fight to lift a nondisclosure agreement she says is preventing her from speaking about an alleged affair she had with President Donald Trump, her lawyer tweeted a mysterious photo of a CD Thursday night.
"If 'a picture is worth a thousand words,' how many words is this worth?????#60minutes #pleasedenyit #basta," the tweet from attorney Michael Avenatti read.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is slated to appear Sunday on CBS in a 60 Minutes interview. Basta means "enough" in Spanish and is frequently included in Avenatti's tweets.
Daniels is suing to be released from a nondisclosure agreement she signed with Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen. The agreement paid Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her silence on an alleged affair from a little over a decade ago. Cohen has said he paid Daniels the money from his personal account and that the Trump campaign did not reimburse him.
Trump never signed the agreement, and Daniels has argued that invalidates it. Cohen has retaliated by filing court paperwork claiming Daniels violated the nondisclosure 20 times and is therefore exposed to owing $20 million in damages.
The White House has denied that an affair ever took place between Trump and Daniels.
"The fact that a sitting president is pursuing over $20 million in bogus 'damages' against a private citizen, who is only trying to tell the public what really happened, is truly remarkable. Likely unprecedented in our history. We are not going away, and we will not be intimidated by these threats," Avenatti told The Washington Post.
Thursday night, a former Playboy model detailed another alleged affair with Trump—around the same time as Daniels, from 2006 to 2007—to CNN's Anderson Cooper. Trump was married at the time of the alleged affairs. He married his current wife, Melania, in 2005.
Avenatti did not immediately respond to Newsweek's request for comment.
