A Twitter/X post from Stormy Daniels went viral yesterday after she took to the platform to express her thoughts on what constitutes a "real man."
In a tweet perceived to be aimed at Former President Donald Trump, which has since garnered significant attention, Daniels wrote, "Real men respond to testimony by being sworn in and taking the stand in court. Oh...wait. Nevermind."
Daniels, currently involved in Trump's hush money trial in New York, took an obvious dig at Trump, seemingly referencing his legal team's recent request to modify a gag order and for a mistrial, both of which were denied by State Judge Juan Merchan.
The tweet, which currently has 1.8 million views, prompted a flurry of responses from users across the social media platform. Many applauded Daniels for her stance and for using her platform to call out Trump while others accused her of hypocrisy and pointed to her career in the adult entertainment industry.
Democrat social media influencer Harry Sisson @harrysisson, who has over 700,000 followers on TikTok, responded to the post with, "LETS GO STORMY" [sic] and a US flag emoji. Another Twitter user, Alex Cole @acnewsitics, editor for online news page Newsitics, correctly predicted, "This tweet about to go viral" [sic].
However, others have been quick to criticize Daniels, citing her profession and past actions. Some accused her of exploiting her own sexuality for financial gain and argued that she lacked the credibility to speak on issues of respect and morality.
Daniels, a former adult film star whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, gained widespread notoriety for her alleged affair with Trump and has been vocal about her experiences and opinions on various social and political issues. Trump is accused of paying Daniels $130,000 'hush money' in the form of a nondisclosure agreement to not talk about the alleged sexual encounters between him and Daniels. Trump has denied the affair and any wrongdoing.
The viral Tweet by Daniels followed a day of rigorous cross-examination of her in court by Trump's attorney, Susan Necheles. Necheles estimated that Daniels had made at least $1 million from various projects on the back of the scandal, including selling merchandise, appearing on a documentary and writing and selling her memoir.
Once Daniels had finished testifying, her lawyer, Clark Brewster, told NBC News she was relieved to be done and had been left "shaken" by the ordeal.
It is unclear yet whether Trump will testify.
