It looks like Stranger Things won't only be a Netflix original much longer. Comic book publisher Dark Horse announced Wednesday that the beloved sci-fi series will transform into a four-part comic prequel.

Stranger Things: Six will not only delve into Dr. Brenner's test subjects prior to Eleven but also explore origin stories of both the Hawkins Laboratory and Project MKUltra.

"Stranger Things: SIX follows Francine, a teenage girl with precognition. She's struggled through a lifetime of exploitation: first by her parents, then by Dr. Brenner of Hawkins Laboratory," Dark Horse's press release read. "Dr. Brenner wants to harness her powers as well as those of the other gifted children that they held captive at the lab. Wracked by increasingly disturbing visions, she sees an opportunity to change her life. But at what cost?"

Dark Horse also announced the talented team behind the much anticipated comic series: writer Jody Houser (StarCraft, Orphan Black), penciller Edgar Salazar (Constantine, Smallville), inker Keith Champagne (JSA, Superboy), colorist Triona Farrell (Mech Cadet Yu, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), and letterer Nate Piekos (Fight Club 3, Doctor Star & The Kingdom of Lost Tomorrows).

"Jody Houser is the perfect writer for this series, not only because she is clearly a fan, but also because of her well-documented love of tabletop games, which she brings heavily into play in this issue… All in all, while we were definitely marks for this book before it even launched, we're happy to report that it serves the Stranger Things mythos wonderfully," a Nerdist reviewer wrote.

"It seems inevitable that nostalgic Netflix hit Stranger Things would eventually make its way to comics — it's about nerdy kids in the '80s, after all — so it's a relief that the show found a publisher and creative team that knows what it's doing," Paste Magazine wrote.
