The dust has barely settled over Super Bowl LIII, but bookmakers are already looking ahead. They have made the Kansas City Chiefs the favorites to wrest the Lombardi Trophy away from the New England Patriots.
The Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Atlanta on Sunday, becoming only the second franchise in NFL history (after the Pittsburgh Steelers) to win six Super Bowl titles. However, a sixth triumph in 18 years wasn't enough to convince most of Las Vegas bookmakers that the Patriots can defend their title next time out.
The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has the Chiefs as 6-1 favorites to win Super Bowl LIV. Led by NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs took the league by storm in the regular season but fell short of reaching a first Super Bowl since 1969 after losing to New England in the AFC Championship Game.
The Patriots are 8-1 to become the first team to win back-to-back titles since they themselves achieved the feat in 2005, while the team they beat in Atlanta on Sunday is also 8-1 to triumph next year.

The New Orleans Saints are the third team with 8-1 odds to win Super Bowl LIV, as they look to bounce back from their controversial defeat against the Rams in the NFC Championship Game.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, Los Angeles Chargers and Chicago Bears are next in line at 14-1, while the Cleveland Browns and other five teams are 20-1. The Browns had their best season since 2014 and went 5-3 after Gregg Williams replaced Hue Jackson as head coach, but it Baker Mayfield might have to wait a little longer to play in his first Super Bowl.
Miami will host the Super Bowl next year but for bookmakers the chances of the Dolphins triumphing on home turf are extremely slim, with the franchise having the longest odds of any team at 300-1.
Meanwhile, oddsmakers at Bovada expect Rams and Patriots to face each other in the Super Bowl again next year, with both teams 7-1 favorites to lift the Lombardi Trophy. Consecutive Super Bowls have not featured the same two teams since the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills went head-to-head in Super Bowl XXVII and Super Bowl XXVIII, with the Cowboys winning both games.
The Chargers and the Chiefs have the next best odds and are both 8-1, followed by the Colts and the Saints at 10-1 and by the Bears and Steelers at 13-1 and 16-1 respectively.
