Third-Grade Teacher Who Claimed Trump Aide Stephen Miller Was a 'Strange Dude' Who Ate Glue Has Been Suspended

Stephen Miller's third-grade teacher, who said earlier this week that the Trump aide was a glue-eating "loner," has now been suspended.

Nikki Fiske, a veteran teacher in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, has been placed on "home assignment" after penning an essay in which she described a young Miller as a "strange dude" and recounted a story of him eating glue as a student.

"I remember he would take a bottle of glue—we didn't have glue sticks in those days—and he would pour the glue on his arm, let it dry, peel it off and then eat it," Fiske wrote. The essay was published by The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.

The teacher wrote of how she was always "concerned" about Miller, who had "such strange personal habits. He was a loner and isolated and off by himself all the time."

Fiske went on to say that at the end of the year she wrote all of her concerns about Miller and had a conference with the school's principal and his parents, who were "horrified."

"Of course, Stephen wasn't political then—it wasn't until later that he started to make waves," Fiske concluded.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Fiske's school district was primarily concerned about "her release of student information, including allegations that the release may not have complied with applicable laws and district policies."

Fiske was criticized for writing the essay, with the Washington Examiner publishing an opinion piece titled "The main takeaway on Steve Miller's third-grade past is that his teacher is a real jerk."

The piece, written by Becket Adams, went on to ask, "What kind of teacher goes to an entertainment newspaper with gossip about an 8-year-old boy? Hell, forget that she's a teacher. What kind of human being does that?"

Miller, now 33, is a senior adviser to President Donald Trump. He is one of the few remaining staffers from Trump's 2016 presidential campaign, where he served as a senior policy adviser and speechwriter. After Trump won the election, Miller was appointed to the president's economic policy team.

Miller is cited as the driving force behind the Trump administration's far-right immigration policies. In his time in the White House, he has played an integral role in enacting Trump's ban on Muslims from certain nations and the administration's crackdown on sanctuary cities. Most recently, Miller was instrumental in slashing the number of refugees allowed into the United States to its lowest level in 40 years.
