Tears as Rescue Dog Is Reunited With Her Sister From Romania in Viral Clip

A dog's reaction after reuniting with her long-lost sister has the internet "crying huge tears," after the pups' owner posted a video of the two of them sharing a very special moment.

The viral clip, shared on TikTok last Thursday by Mei_the_puppy, shows Luna, a rescue dog from Romania joining her new forever home where her sister, who was adopted a few weeks prior, was waiting for her to finally settle for good.

The poster explained that before entering the country both dogs were tested at the borders and were totally healthy. And they also took them to a veterinarian directly after taking them home.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), it is estimated that approximately 3.1 million companion dogs enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. The number of dogs joining shelters has declined from 3.9 million in 2011.

Each year, approximately 390,000 shelter dogs are euthanized. The number of pets euthanized in U.S. shelters annually has declined from approximately 2.6 million in 2011, and this is partly due to an increase in the percentage of animals adopted and an increase in the number of stray animals successfully returned to their owners.

Approximately 710,000 dogs who enter shelters as strays are returned to their owners every year, and of the remaining ones, at least 2 million are adopted each year.

The heartwarming video has attracted many animal lovers from all over social media, receiving over 166,300 views and 14,200 likes.
