It's been more than a year since Amber Portwood and her ex-fiancé Matt Baier split, and now the Teen Mom OG star is finally coming forward with details of a miscarriage she suffered during her and Baier's former relationship.
Portwood will discuss the unfortunate situation in the upcoming episode of the MTV reality show, set to air Monday. Portwood reveals the miscarriage during a conversation with her first ex-fiancé Gary Shirley's wife, Kristina Anderson. In the clip, Anderson confides in Portwood about her own experience miscarrying.
"I went to the doctor and they did the ultrasound and found the heartbeat," Anderson explained in the clip released by Us Weekly on Wednesday. "They told me there was nothing they could do. If I could've chosen, I would not [have heard the heartbeat]."
Portwood shares in her pain and reveals she too suffered a similar experience, although she "didn't hear the heartbeat or anything like that."
"I didn't even go to the hospital, actually. That's really sad. I'm so sorry you had to go through that," Portwood continued.
Baier recently opened up about the miscarriage during an interview with Radar Online also released on Wednesday. The former reality star said the loss of their child was "a difficult time for both of us."
"Even now, it's difficult to think about," Baier said, adding that he didn't share the news earlier in an effort to not "violate [Amber's] trust and reveal anything about the event that she herself doesn't want [to be] revealed."
"I promised her a long time ago that anything that happened in our private life would stay private until she wanted to discuss it. I will always honor that," Baier said.
Despite facing her own trials with miscarriage, Portwood did become a mother for the second time when she and boyfriend Andrew Glennon welcomed their first child together in May. Portwood also has 9-year-old daughter Leah, whom she shares with Shirley.
Baier tied the knot with wife Jennifer Kathleen Conlon a few months after his official split from Amber in 2017.
