Tekashi 6ix9ine 'Dummy Boy' Album Takes Billboard 200 No. 2 Spot Despite Jail Time

Tekashi 6ix9ine may be sitting behind bars but that hasn't stopped his debut album Dummy Boy from sitting pretty at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The rapper's 13-song album, which leaked online ahead of its release on Thursday, still managed to move 66,000 units within the first three days of its debut—10,000 of which, Billboard noted, were in pure album sales.

The position marks Tekashi 6ix9ine's biggest musical accomplishment since his single "Fefe," featuring Nicki Minaj debuted at No. 3 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in August. The song also topped Billboard's On-Demand Streaming Songs chart—the first from Tekashi 6ix9ine's repertoire to do so—in September.

Tekashi 6ix9ine appears on Billboard 200 after Travis Scott's Astroworld, which returned to the No. 1 spot after spending two weeks at the top following its initial release in August.

Twenty-two-year-old Tekashi 6ix9ine's latest achievement comes amid his federal indictment on racketeering charges and other crimes committed by the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, a set he formerly claimed in his songs and in posts on social media. Five other Tekashi 6ix9ine associates were included in the initial indictment, including his former manager Kifano "Shotti" Jordan, Jamel "Mel Murda" Jones, Jensel "Ish" Butler, Fuguan "Fu Banga" Lovick and Faheem "Crippy" Walters. Authorities in New York announced the apprehension of a seventh man, Roland "Ro Murda" Martin, on Friday, who is reportedly also affiliated with the Nine Trey gang.

Overall the gang was charged with 17 counts of racketeering conspiracy, firearms offense pertaining to racketeering, violent crime in aid of racketeering and a general firearms offense. The indictment said the men operated as a criminal enterprise, committing a number of crimes for the gang's advancement including robbery, drug trafficking and murder.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is being charged with six counts, which come with a 32-year minimum, maximum life sentence if convicted. The rapper's trial is expected to start in September 2019. He maintains his innocence.
