Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrest Warrant Issued in Houston After Rapper Fails to Show Up in Court

Tekashi 6ix9ine's legal woes continue to rack up. The Brooklyn rapper was hit with a bench warrant in Houston for failing to appear at a court hearing on Thursday, according to a TMZ report. Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is currently behind bars at a federal prison in Queens, New York, following an indictment on charges of racketeering and firearms offenses among others, which obviously resulted in his inability to show up before a judge in Texas.

The judge presiding over the hearing was reportedly aware of Tekashi 6ix9ine's current position in federal prison.

Tekashi 6ix9ine's legal trouble in Houston stems from an altercation he was involved in back in January. The "FEFE" rapper allegedly choked a 16-year-old boy named Santiago Albarran at the Galleria Mall. In his statement to police, Albarran said he saw Tekashi 6ix9ine at the mall and began filming him with his phone. Tekashi 6ix9ine yelled for Albarran to erase the video before allegedly grabbing Albarran by his neck while Tekashi 6ix9ine's bodyguards surrounded him.

Although Albarran inevitably erased the video as an attempt to prevent being further harmed, others nearby at the mall captured the scene on video and uploaded it to social media. It is unclear if Tekashi 6ix9ine is allegedly grabbing Albarran by the neck or by his jacket in the footage.

Albarran has since decided to drop charges against Tekashi 6ix9ine, despite the judge's bench warrant. The teen showed up at one of the hearings and said he didn't want the rapper to be prosecuted. Carl Moore, one of Tekashi 6ix9ine's lawyers, told TMZ their legal team expected the case to be dismissed and initially rejected a plea deal due to Albarran's apparent change of heart.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is currently facing a 32-year minimum, maximum life sentence on racketeering charges, along with a number of other men allegedly associated with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, a gang 6ix9ine often repped in his music. While the indictment includes 17 counts in total, Tekashi 6ix9ine is only facing six. He maintains his innocence.
