Video Of Tesla Cybertruck Struggling in Snow Viewed More Than 5m Times

A new Tesla model that has been advertised as "durable and rugged enough to go anywhere" needed a tow after getting stuck on a snowy hill in a viral video.

More than 5 million have seen the video on social media which shows the Cybertruck carrying a small Christmas tree and struggling on a hillside in Corral Hollow, California.

The film on Twitter and Instagram shows a Ford F-150, a rival model, towing up the Tesla after it "came off a trail" with unconfirmed reports suggesting the electric car suffered a "software issue".

Tesla states that the Cybertruck has a towing capacity of nearly 5,000 kg and a range of 340 miles as well as a 0-60mph time of 2.6 seconds. Prices start at $79,990.

The model is now at the point of being released, having faced delays. It is understood the model seen on the hillside was a prototype.

An advertisement for the electric vehicle states: "Durable and rugged enough to go anywhere. Tackle anything with electronically adaptive air suspension that offers 12" of travel and 17" of clearance."

Social media users were quick to point out that the Cybertruck claimed to be "rugged enough to go anywhere" but was caught up by the innocent-looking hill.

"Mad embarrassing," Nosql tweeted. "I'll stick to petrol power," said another.

However, some users were more defensive and Jordan, who posted it on Twitter, said: "This was not meant to ever be posted by anyone for negativity lol. If this was any other truck it would be a simple watch and scroll... but it's the cybertruck. We know what comes with that..."

The self-described "Cybertruck fan" stated that she thought the vehicle "looked good" carrying the Christmas tree. It later transpired that the Cybertruck was eventually saved.

A Twitter user calling himself The Cybertruck Guy said: "Any truck would have got stuck here in the same situation.

"[It was reported] that this was the prototype. It didn't have any recovery points so they had to connect the tow straps to the suspension, it didn't have the right tires, they were not aired down... And then [it says] they didn't have the software to run the rear diff locks."

Tesla has been approached by Newsweek for a response.

The company is founded by Elon Musk who has said Tesla will produce 250,000 Cybertrucks per year by 2025 at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas.
