A manhunt was underway Friday morning in Mississippi after an inmate stole a prison-transport van.
Todd Moudy, 46, was identified as the suspect and is considered armed and dangerous. The Madison County Sheriff's Department is searching for the inmate and urged the public to not approach him if seen.
The 46-year-old was able to steal the prisoner transport van, which was used to transport other inmates. There was a firearm locked inside the van, authorities are unsure whether Moudy was unable to gain access to it.
The van was last seen traveling down Highway 43 along the Natchez Trac, according to a WJTV report.
Moudy appeared in court on felony drug and weapons charges, and his bail was revoked, according to a WAPT report.
"He made the statement that he didn't want to go back to jail and right now, he isn't in jail. He's at large," Sheriff Randy Tucker said during a Friday afternoon press conference
"He's a hometown boy. He's from here. He doesn't really have anywhere else to go," he added. "Not to say he can't wind up anywhere in the country, but we feel like he's going to stay close to home."
This is a developing story. The article will be updated when more details are available.
