Toddler Insists on Kissing Each Toy Car Goodnight in Sweet Bedtime Routine

Many parents will know how difficult it can be to get children to bed, but one mom has shared the hilarious bedtime routine her toddler has developed, and there's no way he could possibly rush it.

Whenever Laura Nichols, 30, says the B-word to her 1-year-old son, Henry, she knows that it will be a while before he's finally ready to go to bed because there's an all-important process he has to go through first. There's no way Henry could sleep at night without saying goodnight to his toy cars, so obviously he has to kiss them all goodnight—one at a time.

There's no doubt which toys are Henry's favorites, as Nichols told Newsweek that he's "cars obsessed," and he wouldn't go anywhere without one.

Nichols, from Norfolk, U.K., posted a video of Henry's nightly routine on TikTok (@livingwithhenryw), joking that "it's cute but he has like 50," so the novelty certainly wears off after a while. The video delighted many parents, who will know the struggle, and the clip has amassed over 358,000 views and more than 59,800 likes on TikTok already.

"He started kissing them all from about 18 months old. Whenever I say it's time for bed, we always tell him to say goodnight, and off his own back he decided one day to kiss as many as he could before putting them back in the little box," Nichols said.

"It takes him anywhere between a couple of minutes to 10 minutes, and I'm sure he milks it to stay up a bit later sometimes. But it depends how many are out of the box."

Although Henry loves all the cars in his collection, his favorite toy is definitely Lightning McQueen from the Disney Pixar movie Cars. There's no chance he'd miss out on saying goodnight to Lightning McQueen, and Nichols jokes that he even takes them in the bath, and when they leave the house, he "takes as many as he can carry." Anywhere Henry goes, a car must come too.

While there are some occasional nights when Henry forgets to tuck all his cars into their box before heading to bed, if he's been playing with them beforehand, or they're lying around the house, he certainly won't miss the opportunity.

Since Henry's adorable way of delaying bedtime went viral, Nichols has been delighted by the positive response she's received online.

She said: "I would usually post the odd video of Henry on my personal Instagram stories, but I've had so much positive feedback from family and friends about how much they love watching Henry, so I decided to start posting on TikTok.

"We love sharing the videos and it'll be lovely for us to look back on when Henry is older. He just makes us all laugh, and I love sharing those moments with others."

With more than 120 comments on the TikTok video already, many people lauded Henry's unusual bedtime routine. One TikTok user wrote: "In the world of boy, he's gentleman."

Another person responded: "omg this is so wholesome."

While one comment reads: "he's a very kind gentleman, I support him."
