Donald Trump: 'Everybody Is With Tomi Lahren' Following Restaurant Water 'Attack'

In a series of early morning tweets, President Donald Trump on Wednesday praised Tomi Lahren after a woman threw a glass of water at the conservative commentator at a Minnesota restaurant.

"Everybody is with Tomi Lahren, a truly outstanding and respected young woman! @foxandfriends," Trump tweeted shortly before 7:30 a.m. local time. He referenced Lahren's guest appearance on his favorite early morning program, where she recounted her "attack" at a hip-hop themed brunch.

"Unfortunately there was a group of people probably around my age that thought it would be funny to throw water at me and then start chanting profanity and, again, not something that I'm not used to but really disheartening," Lahren recounted Wednesday morning on Fox and Friends.

She continued, "At the end of the day I'm a person, too, and I do get humiliated and embarrassed just like anyone else, but I'm tough, my family is tough, we can handle it," Lahren said on the morning show.

Lahren's account matches that of restaurant staff. According to Jeremy Jackson, a security guard at Union Restaurant in Minneapolis, the Fox News commentator was attempting to eat brunch with her mother and some family on Saturday. As she was leaving the restaurant, a woman splashed her with water while passersby shouted "F--k that b---h."

"I said [to Tomi], 'I'd like to separate you all if can, please.' And she responded, 'You're just going to kick me out for them throwing water? Unbelievable,'" Jackson told the news site The Blast

He told Lahren that she wasn't being kicked out, but the commentator decided to leave on her own accord. Lahren's mother also got into the fray, briefly confronting the anonymous woman who splashed her daughter with water.

A flood of support came for Lahren after TMZ first reported the water-tossing incident. Although most of it came courtesy of Trump supporters, a few of the president's most ardent—and controversial—critics also stepped in to defend Lahren.

"I couldn't disagree more with @TomiLahren, but I don't think it's cool to resort to physical actions to make your point," wrote comedian Kathy Griffin, who previously said, "The first amendment is a beautiful thing - use it."

In response, Lahren acknowledged the support from both sides of an ever-increasing ideological divide.

"I appreciate the words of support- even from those who normally dislike me. Free speech is a gift- no need to resort to that kind of attack," she tweeted. Lahren also responded to Trump's social media shout-out with an American flag emoji.

The 25-year-old rose to fame via TheBlaze, where she was a critic of progressive issues, particularly those on college campuses. After she was suspended from the site for making a comment seemingly in support of abortion rights, the South Dakota native landed a spot on Fox News as a contributor. She has millions of followers across her social media accounts.
