Tomi Lahren ridiculed millennial feminists for seeking "special treatment" rather than equal treatment and said today's feminists "hijacked" the women's empowerment movement.
Speaking on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning, the 26-year-old conservative political commentator responded to a recent CBS News poll showing more than twice the millennial women who identify as "feminists" are Democrats rather than Republicans. Lahren said liberal-minded, "modern-day feminists" are simply seeking attention and "demanding free things." The poll showed that 63 percent of Democrat-voting millennials identify as feminists compared to just 29 percent of Republican millennial women.
"This isn't surprising to me because I know many millennial women who though they believe in female empowerment and women's rights they don't consider themselves feminists anymore," Lahren told the Fox News co-hosts Tuesday. "Modern-day feminists have hijacked the term and have changed it into something that the original feminists would be horrified by, they'd be rolling in their graves if they saw what feminists have done with the movement. It's become less about equal treatment and equal rights and more about special treatment."
Lahren said millennial feminists have exhibited hypocritical judgment because they have not supported conservative women, specifically high-ranking members of the Trump administration.
"The feminists have not come out to support people like [White House Press Secretary] Sarah Huckabee Sanders, like [Secretary of Homeland Security] Kirstjen Nielsen, like the rest of the women in the Trump administration who have ascended to very high positions under this president. All they have done is demean these women," continued the "Final Thoughts" segment host.
Much like her criticism of liberals being "ungrateful" as a whole, Lahren said young women who identify as feminists are only making demands instead of working hard for what they want in life. She claimed feminism has been tainted by millennial women who've made the movement more about "man bashing and demanding free things. She said poked fun at millennial feminists for "marching in the streets getting attention with [pink] hats and being anti-Trump."
Lahren, who gained national fame for her provocative criticisms of Black Lives Matter, also blasted California Democrat Maxine Waters as the definition of "Trump derangement syndrome" during the same Fox & Friends appearance. "If, and when, Trump derangement syndrome is put in the dictionary, there will be a photo of Maxine Waters next to that definition."
