A Return to Bergen-Belsen and the Future of Holocaust Remembrance

Menachem Rosensaft's connections with Bergen-Belsen lie far deeper than all that. His parents, Polish Jews who had survived Auschwitz-Birkenau, met there shortly after their liberation by British troops on April 15, 1945. For the next five years, Menachem's father, Josef Rosensaft, headed both the Central Committee of Liberated Jews in the British Zone of Germany and the Jewish Committee that administered the Belsen Displaced Persons camp.
