Trans Actress Hilariously Roasts Dave Chappelle in Viral Video

A well-established transgender actress decided to use satire to mock Dave Chappelle after he once again targeted her community.

The comedian made headlines for jokes he made about transgender people in his latest Netflix special, The Dreamer.

Chappelle spent the first 12 minutes of The Dreamer dedicated to what he described as "punching down" on transgender people after previously getting into hot water for his controversial comments.

"If you guys came here to this show tonight thinking that I'm going to make fun of those people again, you've come to the wrong show. I'm not f****** with those people anymore. It wasn't worth the trouble. I ain't saying s*** about them," Chappelle said.

He continued with a number of other jokes and also took aim at disabled people, with pundits and social media commentators wondering why Chappelle kept going on about transgender people.

Trace Lysette, who is best known for her role in Prime Video's Transparent, took to TikTok to joke about it.

"So at this point, it's giving client," Lysette said, jokingly suggesting Chappelle had been a client of transgender sex workers in the past.

"I don't know what doll [trans sex worker] hurt Dave Chappelle, I really don't. But it's giving disgruntled client, it's giving angry trick."

She captioned the post: "You aint fooling nobody Dave."

Newsweek contacted Chappelle's representatives by email for comment.

Lysette, who previously was a sex worker, mused further about Chappelle's jokes.

"It's giving, he wanted to kiss on the mouth and she was like, 'No, I don't do that, I upcharge for that, if you want to do that, you got to give me x, y, z,'" Lysette continued. "And he was like, 'Oh no, ma'am.' And his ego was bruised, honey, so he went on a rampage [....] Oh my god, who goes on to make three comedy specials about the dolls because you can't take [it]?"

She concluded: "Get him some help."

In another video, Lysette mocked Chappelle's makeup in The Dreamer, especially his "banana-powder-deluxe-combo highlight."

Lysette compared the makeup to what she says is a common desire by some clients of trans sex workers to have their makeup done and wear women's clothing in order to be "one of the girls" for a night.

"It's either that, or the butch queen who did his makeup said 'I'm gonna set his ass up,'" Lysette joked.

She later shared her video to X, formerly Twitter, with the caption "it's just jokes right?" using Chappelle's own defence of his material against him.

In 2021, Chappelle's Netflix special The Closer sparked walkouts at the streaming giant which after staff claimed it contained material that was transphobic.

Chappelle addressed those comments during a follow-up Netflix special—What's in a Name?—saying students who criticized him were "instruments of oppression."
