Kayla Nicole, the ex-girlfriend of NFL star Travis Kelce, seemingly expressed her frustration with the aggressive fanbase of Taylor Swift, Kelce's current girlfriend, on social media.
Nicole, 32, took to X, (formerly Twitter) to voice her feelings amid the buzz surrounding 34-year-old Swift's upcoming album release, The Tortured Poets Department, set to release on April 19.
"I'm unproblematic. Mind my business. Never respond to the constant vitriol," Nicole posted. "Solid as they come & don't expect a pat on the back for it either. Just know everyone has a breaking point & would love for 'yall' (because you know exactly who you are) to leave me alone."
This outburst follows Nicole's commentary on the difficulty of absorbing multiple new music albums released close together, including Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter. Swifties interpreted her tweet as a slight against Swift, leading to a flurry of critical responses.
"Taylor doesn't need your streams," one fan snapped back, while another dismissed her, saying, "if you want peace, stop teasing. get over it, girl."
Another user doubled down on the NFL star's ex, posting, "Is being unproblematic liking mean tweets about other celebs? Or telling people that something is above their tax bracket? Or hating on Vanessa Bryant? Or going off about Cam's own ideals in a relationship? You've done mean things to people as well, Kayla. Karma?"
Nicole, who earned substantial income from her online presence last year, responded to a suggestion to log off social media for her mental health with, "I made 6 real life figures from being 'logged on' last year. And very thankful for it. A better suggestion – people that use this platform to spew hate – log out and focus on getting their mattress off the floor."
However, some of Swift's fans came to Nicole's defense, mentioning how she's handling the hate with grace. "As a lifelong Swiftie and a big fan of yours, I feel like I need to apologize on their behalf for how disgusting they are to you. you don't deserve it at all and please know there are some of us who also love and respect you and wish they would just leave you alone," said one fan, showing her support. Another supporter posted, "No you definitely deserve a pat on the back for how you've handled this."
Nicole and Kelce had been in an on-and-off relationship from 2017 until they finally parted ways in May 2022. After their breakup, Kelce began dating the pop icon, and Nicole has since been targeted by Swift's fans, particularly after expressing condolences to Travis' sister-in-law, Kylie Kelce, in March 2024, which led to accusations of her seeking attention. Despite the online turmoil, the Chiefs tight end has remained silent on the matter publicly.
