President Donald Trump is holding his latest reelection campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina Monday evening, here's how and when to tune in to watch.
Trump is scheduled to hold his latest 2020 "Keep America Great" campaign rally at Charlotte's Bojangles Coliseum at 7 p.m. EST. Local news outlets, including The Charlotte Observer, reported that dozens of excited rally attendees had already lined up in tents and camping gear Monday night in order to secure a spot inside the coliseum, which holds about 9,600 people.
Live streams of Monday's rally will be available on Donald Trump's official YouTube channel as well as the Facebook pages for several local stations including Charlotte's WBTV news.
Trump's North Carolina rally follows his pattern of holding campaign events in states where Democrats are about to hold primary contests - as North Carolinians will do on March 3 as part of Super Tuesday. Trump is expected to be joined at the event by several North Carolina Republicans including Congressman Dan Bishop, who the president campaigned for last year.
The president was previously in Charlotte in early February for an event called the "North Carolina Opportunity Summit." Trump's appearance at Central Piedmont Community College discussed "opportunity zones" for developers in order to encourage building rundown parts of the city.
The rally is set to officially start at 7 p.m. ET but doors to the event at the Bojangles Coliseum open at 3 p.m. for attendees.
Trump's long-shot GOP primary challenge from former Massachusetts Republican Governor Bill Weld on Tuesday is not expected to threaten his candidacy. A poll released this week from North Carolina's High Point University found the president enjoys the support of an overwhelming 89 percent of registered Republicans in the state. The same poll found 46 percent of North Carolina voters of any political affiliation approving of Trump's time in office.
The Charlotte Observer reported Monday that traffic in the city may be clogged ahead of the rally in which thousands are expected to attend, in addition to supporters camping outside the venue. An excited supporter of the president waiting outside the Bojangles Coliseum told the newspaper, "You know, there are Democratic candidates who are trying to win their primaries and try to get the nomination to run against Trump, which it doesn't matter who wins out of any of them, they're not going to beat President Trump," he said.
