TSA Agents Find Meth Stuffed Inside Traveler's Breakfast Burrito

One traveler had their morning meal confiscated after TSA officers reportedly found crystal meth stuffed inside of their breakfast burrito.

According to ABC 13, the incident occurred during a security screening at William P. Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas earlier this month, when TSA agents noticed that the shape of the passenger's burrito was particularly abnormal. Apparently, this on-the-go breakfast favorite featured an "unidentified lump" that made it an odd size and shape.

TSA reportedly asked to further investigate the burrito and asked the passenger to unwrap it. According to a TSA press release on the incident, the traveler "insisted it was just a breakfast burrito."

However, once it was unwrapped, officers "noticed something dark and unusual in the middle of the burrito."

"Because the food item didn't quite match the description provided by the traveler," added the press release, "a supervisory TSO was asked to assist and she decided to rescreen the breakfast burrito through the X-ray."

Upon rescreening the burrito through the X-ray, TSA agents reportedly saw "what appeared to be black tape and dark wrapping around a large organic mass." Correctly suspecting the mass contained an illegal substance, they called the Houston Police Department who identified the lump as crystal meth.

The TSA SouthWest Twitter account shared photos from the incident, which feature a mess of what appears to be egg, cheese, and other fillings from the dissected burrito. Other photos show the large parcel of meth, encased in what appears to be a wrapping of black tape.

"Breakfast burritos are delicious but @TSA officers were surprised to find crystal meth inside the one pictured," wrote the TSA_SouthWest Twitter account. "TSA officers @HobbyAirport suspected something wasn't right with this breakfast item & contacted @houstonpolice to investigate."

Commenters reacted strongly to the bizarre story and its accompanying images.

"Who would ruin a breakfast burrito with drugs? Cmon people," wrote one Twitter user.

"They ordered a burrito 'with works' and got enough meth to kill a horse," added another.

Perhaps due to their convenience and portability, this is not the first instance of a burrito reportedly being used to smuggle illegal substances. In 2019, a Colorado Corrections Officer was accused of trying to use a burrito to smuggle drugs into the Colorado Department of Corrections. The burrito is said to have contained a combination of meth, heroin, suboxone, Buprenorphine Naloxone, marijuana wax, and six "small thumb drives."
