UPDATE: 11:54 a.m. EDT—The Mahogany Fire burning in Tujunga was fully contained Tuesday morning, thanks to what the Los Angeles Fire Department called a "well-coordinated air and ground assault" by multiple response organizations.
Three homes were initially threatened by the fire, though it appeared none were damaged or destroyed.

A brush fire broke out in the Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed. Known as the Mahogany Fire, the fire was located in the Blanchard Canyon area of the northeast San Fernando Valley.
The fire was threatening at least three homes as of Monday morning, KTLA reported. No evacuations were yet in place, though firefighters were working to protect homes in the area.
The cause of the fire, which was less than 1.5 acres as of 8 a.m. local time, remained unclear. It was burning through medium density brush.
An air and ground response was put in place as the Los Angeles Fire Department, Verdugo Regional agencies and the Glendale Fire Department responded to the scene. Photos from the fire showed helicopters aiding ground crews in an attempt to put it out.
