Twitter users offered tributes to former professional wrestler Daffney Unger after it was announced that she had died.
On Thursday, SHIMMER Women Athletes, a professional wrestling organization based in Ilinois, tweeted that Unger, whose real name is Shannon Spruill, passed away.
"'We are very sad to have to announce the passing of Shannon Spruill aka Daffney Unger @screamqueendaff," the tweet read. "We are posting this at the request of her family. Please respect their privacy at this trying time. I will miss you my logical sister from another mister,'-Lexie Fyfe."
The cause of Unger's death is unknown. Earlier this week, numerous professional wrestlers spoke out in support of Unger after she went on Instagram Live where she was seen hysterically crying and saying: "Do you guys not understand that I am all alone? Do you not understand that?"
Shortly after her death was announced, current and former professional wrestlers as well as fans posted tributes on social media to Unger, who was known for wrestling professionally throughout the 2000s in the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Total Nonstop Action (TNA) leagues.
Velvet Sky, a former professional wrestler and current commentator for the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), wrote: "Rest in eternal peace my sweet, sweet, Angel friend. You were such an amazing, funny, loving, caring person, and I'll never ever forget you. I love you always, @screamqueendaff."
Sky's tweet continued: "My deepest condolences to the family, friends and fans of this beautiful soul."
Former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Mick Foley posted on Twitter: "I'm so very sorry to learn of Daffney's passing. A terrible loss for her family, friends and wrestling. She was far ahead if her time in our business."
Foley also shared the phone number to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline in his tweet.
TV host and producer Denise Salcedo posted: "Shimmer Wrestling has just announced the passing of Shannon Spruill aka Daffney Unger. This is very heartbreaking."
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Matt Hardy wrote: "It's terrible & heartbreaking to hear the news about Daffney's passing."
Sean Ross Sapp of fightful.com called the wrestler's passing a "terrible loss": "My love goes out to the friends, fans, and family of Daffney Unger."
Twitter user Hayley Lauren Digby wrote: "RIP to one of the most beautiful, talented wrestlers to ever grace this planet. She was a true icon, and i know how much myself and others will miss her. Mental health can make you feel like there is no escape, but I hope she feels at peace now."
Some other Twitter users shared their favorite photos of Unger during her time as a professional wrestler, while others shared resources for suicide prevention.
