TX Republican policy maker explains his 'White Nationalist' message

A Texas Republican who's deeply-ingrained with top brass from the GOP in the Lone Star State told the world he's a "white nationalist." He went on his own social media page to further explain what he meant by his statement.

Ray Myers, 74, a Republican activist for decades who most recently rubbed elbows with top officials at the state's annual GOP convention, rolled out a Facebook message that could publicly force drawback, even on the red side of this highly-Republican stronghold.

"Damn Right, I'm a WHITE NATIONALIST and very Proud of it," the message from Myers stated.

The post came days after CNN reporter Jim Acosta openly questioned whether or not President Donald Trump, or his supporters, were "secretly white nationalists." The Texas Tribune followed up with an interview with Myers about his statement. Myers said he was just trying to be patriotic.

"We're just patriotic Americans, just like anybody else," Myers told The Tribune. "I'm a tea party guy and I've got brown and black and American Indians in our tea parties ... just like Black Lives Matter, white lives matter, too. We're all in the same melting pot. Now why can't we say, as Anglos, that we're proud?"

Myers, in turn, followed up with this message on his Facebook page, acknowledging an interview he had given with The Texas Tribune.

"I am an American Patriot who believes in America 1st!". In my opinion, if you live in Ireland and you are a Irish citizen-you should be for Ireland 1st! Same in Mexico, China, any country that you are a citizen. You should put your homeland 1st! I don't think that he liked my answers.

"I took the interview because I am sick and tired of people Cowing down to the left. They want to control the narrative and vilify conservatives. Time to fight back.

"Does any conservative expect the Observer to be fair? I don't, --but we will see. I did tell him that I agree with President Trump that, "the media is the enemy to the people!"

The Southern Poverty Law Center claims "white nationalists" seek ending multiculturalism through policy goals.

"These racist aspirations are most commonly articulated as the desire to form a white ethnostate — a calculated idiom favored by white nationalists in order to obscure the inherent violence of such a radical project," an SPLC explained on white nationalism. "Appeals for the white ethnostate are often disingenuously couched in proclamations of love for members of their own race, rather than hatred for others."

Myers helps shape the GOP platform through a committee on which he serves. The platform committee is what directs the GOP into governing policies for the Republican Party of Texas.

According to Myers' Facebook page, he's owner of a construction company who calls himself an active conservative. Most of his posts are pro-conservative.
