Uber Driver's Very Specific Ride Menu Goes Viral: 'I'll Take a 7'

There's only so much you can say to a taxi driver, and most commonly it's about the weather or work-related. But one driver has decided to take matters into his own hands by providing a menu with different conversations to choose from.

Reddit user internetboyyn has recently shared a photo of the list, which has 10 options and racked up 13,200 upvotes since it was shared on March 2.

The options start with the "awkward ride" for those who would prefer not to engage in conversation, followed by "the deep question ride," which involves skipping the small talk and getting straight to the nitty-gritty.

However, talking about the weather or Netflix shows has not been ruled out, as people can opt for the "small talk ride." There's also the "cliché ride," which involves asking generic questions like "How long have you been working for Uber?"

Other options include opening up and confiding in the driver, who states, "I'm all ears." Or belting out a few songs during "the karaoke" journey. It seems this driver is far from shy because he is also willing to spend the journey talking about himself.

For those who aren't local, they can choose the "tour guide" or "restaurant" ride to find out about places to see and eat. And if the passenger is from farther afield and speaks French, that person is also in luck as there's a "French ride" too.

And if all of the above isn't enough, there's an opportunity to charge a phone. The driver has an adapter for "any kind of phone."

The original poster has not disclosed where they are from, so Redditors can only dream about coming across a driver with such a menu. However, the ride-hailing service operates in 72 countries. As of early 2023, Uber had 130 million monthly users, according to Statista.

While Uber is one of the most popular services, the U.S. ridesharing industry is dominated by Lyft, in the U.S. Statistics show that Uber's share of the U.S. market has fluctuated between 68 and 74 percent since 2017.

Perhaps with a menu like this, Uber could reach the top of the chart, as Reddit users seem keen to experience something similar. The post has over 330 comments, with people choosing what option they'd pick.

One said: "Oh great I tend to talk for hours all by myself and people never get a chance to ask anything because I make my own follow-up questions."

"I would be requesting that driver if they were in my country & city cos this is (sorry!) über cool," said another.

Another said: "I'll take a number 1 please. Unless I'm drunk - in which case I'll have the smorgasbord."

Another commenter said: "I'll take a 7 followed by a 1. Thanks."

The Driver's Full-Ride Menu

  1. The Awkward Ride - You ignore this menu completely, then we will sit in silence for the remainder of the ride.
  2. The Deep Question Ride - We skip the small talk and get right to the big stuff - meaning of life, existence of a higher power, our place in the universe, etc.
  3. The Analyst Ride - Got something on your mind? Give it a shot, I'm all ears.
  4. The Karaoke Ride - We can rock it out to a variety of XM Radio stations!
  5. The French Ride - Nous parlons en français pour la durée de notre balade," which translates to "We speak in French for the duration of our drive."
  6. The Restaurant Ride - I can let you know about some favorite restaurants and help you decide where to eat.
  7. The Cliché Ride - You ask me how long I have been driving for Uber.
  8. The ME Ride - I tell you all about me.
  9. The Small Talk Ride - We talk about how crazy the weather's been lately and I ask about your favorite Netflix shows.
  10. The Tour Guide Ride - I am glad to share recommendations for your stay (more on reverse side).

Much to Reddit users' dismay, the opposite side of the sheet was not shared.
