U.K. police have shot a woman and arrested four people during a counter-terror raid.

Armed officers entered a property in Willesden, north west London, shortly before 7 p.m. local time on Thursday evening, Sky News reported.

The woman who was shot was among several people under investigation. No other people were injured.

The woman was in her 20s and was taken to a hospital under police guard.

Police said they had not arrested the woman due to her condition, which they described as "serious but stable."

They also said that the property had been "under observation by counter-terrorism officers as part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation."

A 16-year-old boy and a second woman, 20, were detained at the property, while a 20-year-old man was arrested nearby. A 43-year-old woman was later arrested in Kent, according to reports.

The raid follows an incident on Whitehall near the British parliament in London, where police arrested a man on Thursday afternoon on suspicion of terrorism offenses. He is now being questioned by detectives.

The terror threat to the U.K. has been set at "severe" since 2015, meaning an attack is likely.

In March, a British national, Khalid Masood, drove a vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, killing five people.
