'The Umbrella Academy' Netflix Release Time: When Can You Stream New Superhero Show?

The big Netflix release on Friday, February 15 is The Umbrella Academ y, a story about an estranged family of adopted superpowered beings who set out to solve the mystery of their father's death.

The Umbrella Academy is a graphic novel created by Gerard Way (of My Chemical Romance fame) and Gabriel Ba at Dark Horse Comics back in 2007. It's official Netflix synopsis reads, "Reunited by their father's death, estranged siblings with extraordinary powers uncover shocking family secrets -- and a looming threat to humanity."

"I am thrilled that The Umbrella Academy has found a home at Netflix. I couldn't think of a better place for the vision Gabriel Bá and myself had when creating the comic, and cannot wait for people to experience that world as a live action show," Gerard Way said in a 2017 press release after it was announced Netflix was picking up the series.

Netflix users looking for a new type of superhero show will want to try out The Umbrella Academy. Here's when the series will premiere on Netflix and what the show is all about.

WHAT TIME DOES UMBRELLA ACADEMY APPEAR ON NETFLIX?

The Umbrella Academy is expected to hit the streaming service at 3:01 a.m. EST February 15, giving West Coasters a 12:01 a.m. PST start time.

WHAT IS UMBRELLA ACADEMY ABOUT?

The live-action adaptation of The Umbrella Academy brings The Monocle, Spaceboy, The Kraken, The Rumor, The Seance, Number Five, The Horror, and The White Violin together solve their father's death.

However, there's a reason these siblings are estranged. Their different personalities and powers cause a lot of clashes within the family.

Spaceboy (Luther) is the leader of The Umbrella Academy who has super strength. His powers were enhanced further when his head was put onto the body of a Martian ape. He's played by Tom Hopper.

The Kraken (Diego) has the ability to hold his breath indefinitely - hence the aquatic code name. However, he is the most skilled fighter of the group and can be ruthless. He's played by David Castneda.

The Rumor (Allison) can rewrite reality by speaking the phrase, "I heard a rumor…" You can imagine how much power this gives her, and how much trouble this can cause. She's played by Emmy Raver-Lampman.

Number Five can travel through time, but is trapped in the body of his 10-year-old self. He's played by Aidan Gallagher.

The Seance (Klaus) can levitate and communicate with the dead, but only when he's not wearing shoes. He's played by Robert Sheehan.

The Horror (Ben) has the ability to unleash monsters living underneath his skin. He's played by Ethan Hwang.

The White Violin (Vanya) doesn't have any superpowers but becomes a supervillain. She is played by Ellen Page.

Considered an alternative and twisted take on the superhero genre, fans of comic book series like Doom Patrol and the X-Men will want to check out The Umbrella Academy.

The Umbrella Academy is available to stream on Netflix starting Friday, February 15.
