Zimbabwe is cracking down on unvaccinated government workers.
The country announced on Tuesday that government workers have to show proof of vaccination or face "disciplinary proceedings." The proceedings could include forfeiting pay. A medical exemption for the vaccination must be provided by a medical practitioner.
The mandate comes as the country faces staggeringly low vaccination rates, with only 22 percent of its 15 million people fully vaccinated. Officials hope that this will help encourage vaccination, with a goal of having 60 percent of the population vaccinated.
