Utah Woman Accused of Feeding Boyfriend Drano so He Would Go to 'An Eternal Sleep'

A woman pretended to her boyfriend she was giving him medicine when she fed him Drano, leaving him in excruciating pain, police in Utah have said.

After Elle Yoshio Weissman, 43, of South Salt Lake, administered the cleaning liquid, her 50-year-old live-in boyfriend started to suffer pain. Weissman called a ride-hailing service to take the victim to hospital on Monday night and police were later called.

Salt Lake County Jail records said that Weissman stated that her intention "was to give her boyfriend Drano so that he would go into eternal sleep.

"Elle stated that by eternal sleep she meant death. She knew that Drano could kill him and that was her intention. The victim was partially asleep when Elle gave him the Drano. Elle said her boyfriend thought she was giving him his medicine," Fox News reported.

Police arrested Weissman and are investigating her for attempted murder. The unnamed victim is in hospital and his condition is not known, the news outlet added.

She faces charges of a second-degree felony attempted murder and surreptitious administering of certain substance. Her bail has been set at $100,000. She also has no criminal history in Utah, ABC reported.

In February, a 21-year-old woman was arrested in Dearbon, Michigan for allegedly trying to poison her boyfriend's food.

Arrieana Yednock was said to have put eye dropper in his orange juice, but he shared it with her children and inadvertently made them sick, the Detroit News reported. She was arrested and charged with felony food tampering.

Also in February, Amy Murray, 40, from Iberia, Missouri was charged with first-degree murder when she allegedly poisoned her husband with anti-freeze and then set him on fire so she could pursue a relationship with a prison inmate.

She was a nurse at the Jefferson City Correctional Center and was having an affair with an inmate. Eugene Claypool, who was serving a life sentence for second-degree murder.

After he was killed, the two allegedly talked about building a life together because her former husband was "out of the picture," KMIZ reported.

Last September, Lana Clayton, 52, from South Carolina woman poisoned her husband by putting eye drops into his water for several days. Stephen Clayton, 64, was found dead at home with the chemical called tetrahydrozoline in his body, the BBC reported.
