Widespread Verizon outages have been reported Verizon

Many looking to make Verizon wireless calls on their smartphones Friday were unable to do so because of widespread outages. Verizon has been down for some customers since 11:15 a.m. EST Friday, according to outage tracking website Down Detector.

"I had to use a landline in Orlando. Someone's going to pay for this," user Kendall Powers said.

Most of the Verizon outages were reported in the Orlando area.

"32835 area here in Orlando has been down for almost 2 hours," Down Detector user Caitlin said. Customers said this was a problem for LTE calling but the phones worked with Wifi calls.

"My LTE mobile service appears to be down here in southwest Orlando (32836). I can still do WiFi calling, but no cellular," another user said. "Update -- VZW-WiFi just dropped as well. Got a pop-up saying Verizon had turned off cellular calling on my account. (It's NOT a billing issue. I confirmed that.)"

Verizon said it is aware of the Orlando, Florida, outages and hopes to have the issue resolved soon.

"We are currently experiencing an outage in Orlando FL and have network technicians deployed to resolve the issue," Verizon said in a statement Friday. "We do apologize for the inconvenience and are working diligently to get this resolved.

"We know you rely on our Verizon's network to keep everything running smooth. While our network is known for its reliability and dependability, outages can sometimes occur. Our engineers are aware of the concern and are working to resolve this now," another Verizon statement said.

Other users took to Twitter to express their frustration with Verizon not working.

"What's going on? I'm in Orlando and all of us are experiencing an outage," user Michelle Wilson said.
