Video: Fox Host Tells Tucker Carlson That Legal Abortion Is 'Cultural Destruction'

Fox News host Tucker Carlson discussed the politics of abortion on his show Wednesday, framing the debate on whether a woman has the right to choose in terms of its impact on the African American community.

The caption of the segment, "The Issue Uniting Democrats: Abortion," showed a montage of the party's prospective presidential candidates, such as Beto O'Rourke, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren on the campaign trail backing pregnancy termination.

But the host of Tucker Carlson Tonight drew the conclusion that because black women are five times more likely than white women to get abortions, it appears that the Democrats are "pushing abortion" on one particular community—African Americans.

He then played a clip of Stacey Abrams in which the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate said restricting abortion was "not only bad for morality but bad for business." Abrams has described restrictions on access to abortion as "forced-pregnancy bills."

Carlson interpreted this as meaning abortion rights were about making sure that women were "obedient workers rather than harried mothers."

When joined by his guest, the host of Reality Check on FOX Nation, David Webb, Carlson segued into questioning the motive of someone advising a loved one to have an abortion, saying, "does the person really love me? I don't think so."

Webb answered that this policy "goes to a very dangerous level of action by the Democrat party" which he believed "has changed the culture in the black community where young black women are not being taught responsibility for their bodies."

He said that the high rate of abortions of black women "keeps them in poverty" and "correlates to single parent birth and poverty in this country. In medical terms, that's an epidemic."

He said that the message the Democrats were pushing was one "that they are actually being taught 'if you are not responsible...then it's easy to get rid of it, and abortion is your answer.'"

Carlson said: "If I am saying to you 'you probably shouldn't reproduce and let me make it really easy for you not to'… that is not a message of love."

Webb continued: "It's something very dangerous because you are destroying the culture and the future of young women…because you are tearing the family unit apart, you are tearing the community apart. And you are not teaching them to grow up to be responsible people.

"It is just something that is so dangerous that we have to look at it for what it is. Cultural destruction by a bunch of liars in power."
