A man has been ejected from Disneyland after hanging a President Donald Trump 2020 campaign banner from one of the park's famous Mark Twain riverboats.
In what he called "OperationFlagDrop," Dion Cini live-streamed the demonstration on Facebook on Wednesday from the California theme park. This is the third time Cini has been removed from Disney parks for displaying pro-Trump banners and posters.
He began his pro-Trump Disney crusade in September 2018, unfurling a huge banner at the Florida Disney World Magic Kingdom park. Despite being removed from the park and banned, he returned in November to flash a Trump poster while on the Splash Mountain ride in November. The two stunts earned him a lifetime ban from the theme park.
But on Wednesday, Cini—a former U.S. Marine—widened his demonstration scope to include the California complex, The Orange County Register reported. He was detained by park security guards and Anaheim police officers after using one of the riverboats to display a large banner bearing the words: "Re-elect Donald J Trump. Keep America Great!"
A video of the banner being unfurled by two men showed fellow park-goers reacting to the banner, some in anger, others in support.
One visitor, Jennifer Elliott, told the Register she was walking with a friend when they saw the banner. "This is the happiest place on Earth, that kind of political agenda doesn't belong in the park," she said. "We hear about politics every day, I come to Disney to escape it. I was appalled and kind of dumbstruck."
Disney said Cini was removed from the park as it does not allow the use of large banners, signs or flags because of safety risks. Spokeswoman Liz Jaeger also said the protesters were disrupting the experiences and family memories of other park guests, Fox 11 reported.
"We welcome all guests to enjoy our parks; however, demonstrations and the display of signs and banners are not permitted," Jaeger said. "This person has been previously warned, and we have taken appropriate steps to address his behavior."
The Register quoted Anaheim police Sergeant Daron Wyatt, who explained that Disneyland security gave Cini a trespass admonition and that the suspect cooperated with authorities. Cini later posted on Facebook claiming he had been banned from the park.
"Guerilla Marketing: Low-cost, maximum exposure. And have a great time!" he wrote on Facebook, tagging himself alongside fellow pro-Trump protester Bryon McComb.
New Yorker Cini has previously been criticized for boating around Manhattan with a "Trump 2020" flag attached to his kayak, hanging a re-election banner at Yankee Stadium, and displaying another at the Broadway play Frozen.
