LeBron James might have swapped Cleveland for Los Angeles but retains a strong interest in the Cavaliers if his pre-game routine is anything to go by.

The four-time MVP was caught watching the Cavaliers' preseason game against the Boston Celtics from the Los Angeles Lakers' locker room, shortly before making his home debut for the 16-time NBA champions.

With fans in the Staples Center eager to get their first glimpse of LeBron in a Lakers' uniform on home court, a clip shared on Twitter by Bill Oram of The Athletic showed the three-time NBA champion intently watching his former team on a big screen in the Lakers' locker room.

LeBron left Cleveland for a second time in July, opting out of the final year of his deal with the Cavaliers to sign a four-year deal worth $154 million with the Lakers. Considering LeBron was instrumental in taking the Cavs to five NBA finals over his two spells, including in each of the last four years, it is hardly surprising to see him keep an eye on them.

The Cavs definitely had a better evening than he did, beating the Celtics 102-95 in Boston, while the Lakers lost 113-111 against the Denver Nuggets on home court. As he did in his preseason debut on Sunday, LeBron played 15 minutes in the first half before sitting out for the second half, finishing with 5-from-6 from the floor for 13 points, three assists and three rebounds.

Before the game, LeBron admitted he was looking forward step into the Staples Center as a Laker for the first time in his career. "It's a new beginning, a new start; it's a new excitement for myself," he told reporters as per ESPN.

The 14-time All-Star has certainly been made to feel at home in Los Angeles and has taken over Kobe Bryant's old locker in the Lakers' renovated locker room. Located in the corner of the room, the locker was used by Brandon Ingram over the last two seasons but it has since been taken over by LeBron.

While the suggestion of LeBron taking over Kobe's old locker and simultaneously picking up the baton on the court is romantic, Lakers Nation indicated the decision to give LeBron the lockers was taken to better accommodate the large media contingent that is expected to follow him around throughout the season.

The Lakers will return to the Staples Center on Thursday when they take on the Sacramento Kings, before taking on the Clippers at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday and the Warriors at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
