Video of U.K. Talk Show Host Condemning Massive Wealth of Royal Family Watched Over 3 Million Times

A 2018 video clip of a British talk show host condemning the royal family has resurfaced and gone viral, gaining over 3 million views.

"We're obsessed with these humans who are exactly the same [as us], it could be us four sitting there, I just don't get it," Stacey Solomon, British singer and co-host of Loose Women, said on the show over two years ago.

The clip was recently re-shared on TikTok and then spread across Twitter, launching a trending topic and conversation about the meaning of the British monarchy.

At the time of the clip, Solomon and her Loose Women co-hosts Christine Lampard, Linda Robson and Jane Moore were speaking about how the entrance of Meghan Markle to the royal family could bring a new face to the modern monarchy.

"As like Kim Kardashian? Because for me they're becoming celebrities," Moore says.

To which Solomon replies: "Well, to me that's all they are. They're celebrities."

The other women in the panel reply a chorus that they "love the Queen" and describe her with the words "duty," "responsibility" and "brilliant."

"But I would work hard if the whole country paid for me to have, like, 12 houses," Solomon continues in the video clip.

Moore then comments if the royal family were "just like us," why they deserve so much "faff."

"People are thinking that already even without them things," Solomon replies. "I'm already thinking, you know, it's freezing cold outside and people are homeless and these people have houses to spare."

She adds: "It does sometimes become a little bit frustrating because I don't see the purpose of all of this money going to that entire family."

Her response is met with cheers and applause from the show's live studio audience, according to the clip.

I don't watch Loose Women, but just saw a clip of what Stacey Solomon said. I wholeheartedly agree with her, and what is really pleasant is she's being 100% honest, without saying it in a nasty way.Nice that she cares about the homeless too.Pity the Government doesn't follow suit.

The resurfaced video has spread across the internet at a time when many supporters have new eyes on the royal family following a tell-all interview by Oprah Winfrey with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

A global audience of millions tuned in to hear the royal couple tell their candid story following their retreat from official royal duties and subsequent move to the U.S. last year. Markle revealed to Winfrey that she had been contemplating suicide in 2019 when the palace did little to support her amid a barrage of negative press coverage. The couple also discussed how the royal family cut them off financially when they moved to the U.S., and that a senior royal had questioned the potential darkness of their baby's skin.

The interview brought damage to both sides, and some polls suggested a jump in support for a republic over a monarchy. And the royal family is now running damage control to save face among accusations of racist, elitist behavior.

Twitter users lauded Solomon's candid tone, celebrating how she spoke. Users shared the TikTok video across the social media platform and echoed their support.

"Think what you want about Stacey Solomon but what she said about the Royal Family is absolutely correct," one supporter said. "We do not need a monarchy anymore, never did."

"Stacey Solomon is going to lead the revolution and im going to be right behind her," another person wrote.

Stacey Solomon presented the critical thinking which gets dismissed because of her accent and the media's dumbing down of her. She's right. The royal family are just celebrities and it could have been any of us in that position because they did nothing to deserve it. https://t.co/jG5ccx7PTS
