Video: Woman Claims She Was Called N-word and Attacked With Sriracha Sauce by Food Cart Worker

A food cart worker in Portland has been accused of attacking a woman with Sriracha sauce in what was described as a "hate crime."

Carlotta Washington told KOIN 6 Newsshe had been racially abused by the worker after the pair got into a dispute over her paying for her food with quarters.

"I didn't ask for this, I just wanted to eat," Washington told the station, describing the incident in which she claims a worker at the Small Pharoah's halal cart threw a bottle of Gatorade at her as the pair disagreed, and then sprayed her with hot Sriracha sauce.

"It was scary because I didn't know what more could he do after pouring this hot sauce on me, what more would this man do?" she added.

In footage taken at the scene, the food cart worker, who was identified by Willamette Week as Islam Elmasry, can be seen in an argument with Washington.

After telling her to "get the fuck out of here," Elmasry can be seen throwing a bottle of Gatorade at the women, who was berating him for calling her the n-word.

After the bottle is thrown, the woman drops her phone but can be heard shouting at Elmasry and telling him to "call the cops right now." Other customers become involved, telling the food truck worker "that was uncalled for."

The customer who filmed the video of the incident said she found the woman covered in Sriracha, although she did not capture the moment Washington claims Elmasry sprayed her with the hot sauce.

Elmasry was arrested and charged with misdemeanor harassment and assault following the incident.

Speaking to KOIN 6 following the alleged attack, Washington said: "I have no choice but to be strong despite how broken I feel in this moment. I want people to know it's not OK and we don't have to accept anyone calling us out of our name or someone mistreating us period."
