Watch: Woman Misses Flight, Chases Plane Across Tarmac

A woman who turned up too late to board her flight made a desperate last-ditch effort to get on board, apparently in hope the pilot would take pity on her.

According to a spokesman for the airline, the woman was due to be on the plane leaving Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport on Sunday morning but failed to show up to the boarding gate even after three personal calls and a final call.

Minutes after the gate had closed, the woman, identified by local media only as Hana, finally turned up, but was not allowed through. Undeterred, the woman took matters into her own hands, Channel News Asia reported.

Less than 10 minutes before Flight QG193 was due to take off at 7.20a.m., she broke through security and ran onto the tarmac to chase down the Citilink flight headed to Jakarta.

Video of the dash posted on social media shows two airport staff members trying to hold back the woman who struggles to break free and eventually falls onto the ground.

A spokesman for the budget airline said: "At 7.10am, (the passenger) trespassed the boarding gate (as the flight) was going to depart to Jakarta as scheduled at 7.20am. A Citilink employee and an airport security employee then pursued her," he said.

"The Citilink employee tried to secure the passenger as the plane was already moving, causing the passenger to fall onto the ground."

The airline later put the passenger on another flight to Jakarta at 4.40pm on the same day.

"Right now, the passenger has arrived in Jakarta safely," the spokesman said, according to Detik News, cited by Channel News Asia.
