'The View' Agrees: Rudy Giuliani Has Lost Credibility

Co-hosts of The View, tossed around the latest controversy on Thursday's show, but they seemed to agree upon one issue making waves online:

That former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani continues to contradict himself in his defense of President Donald Trump — and probably continues purposely orchestrating confusion when speaking in public.

At issue was Guiliani's recent statement to CNN's Chris Cuomo on Wednesday night that caused a rare consensus among The View's sparring partners.

Giuliani flat-out told Cuomo in a 20-minute interview "I never said there was no collusion" between the Trump campaign and Russia leading up to the 2016 presidential election sparked typically heated discussion on The View and the internet in general.

The self-contradiction sparked a quick online backlash, including from The View.

During the interview, Cuomo called false several times on Giuliani's "shocking declarations," as the Washington Post reported Thursday, due to clear evidence to the contrary that Giuliani contradicts his own past statements concerning Trump's collusion with a foreign power.

"Every time I hear him speak, he contradicts something he said before, and I'm left with more questions," Abby Huntsman of The View said Thursday, as Mediaite reported.

While The View veterans Whoopi Goldberg or Joy Behar are usually the first to nail Republicans for their hypocrisy or penchant for disinformation, their cohorts jumped on the same bandwagon during Thursday's show.

"There's no way there wasn't collusion," agreed Sunny Hostin, adding that Giuliani has been "tripped up with all the lies."

Meghan McCain, too, expressed dismay at Giuliani's continued strange behavior and lack of honesty.

"It's very sad because he was America's mayor," said McCain, referring to the public praise heaped upon Giuliani for how he responded quickly to the fallout of terrorist attacks on New York City on Sept. 11, 2001. "I don't recognize this man anymore."

"It's sad to me," added Huntsman, reiterating "he's lost a lot of credibility."

"It almost makes you feel bad for him," Hostin added.

In a lead-up to the discussion, Goldberg said to audience chuckles, "Trump's lawyer always made one thing clear whenever he got in front of the camera … but last night, shockingly, he changed his tune:"

"Russian collusion is total fake news," Giuliani said in several various forms, after Goldberg introduced a swath of videos showing Giuliani speaking on record at various times and on various news shows.

The Washington Post's transcript of Cuomo's exchange with Giuliani includes the following — after the former New York City major complained about the so-called "false reporting" of the ongoing Russia investigation:

"Mr. Mayor, false reporting is saying that nobody in the campaign had any contacts with Russia," Cuomo responded. "False reporting is saying that there has been no suggestion of any kind of collusion between the campaign and any Russians."

To which Giuliani responded:

"You just misstated my position," Giuliani said. "I never said there was no collusion between the campaign, or between people in the campaign."

Cuomo's face contorted into an expression of disbelief. "Yes, you have," he shot back.
