Viewers Disgusted By 'Moldy' 13-Year-Old Breast Implant in Viral Clip

A woman went viral after showing her breast implants that she had removed after 13 years, saying the implants made her sick.

The woman named Bunnie, or @xomgitsbunnie, posted the video to TikTok where it received more than 3.3 million views and 4,200 comments.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that breast augmentation has been one of the top five most popular cosmetic procedures since 2006.

There are two types of breast implants: silicone and saline. Silicone implants utilize a thick gel that feels similar to human fat. Saline implants are filled with a saltwater solution and are prone to mold, yeast, and bacteria growth.

In 2020, silicone implants were used 84 percent of the time, while the use of saline implants was down to 16 percent, according to ASPS.

Some individuals have also reported symptoms of breast implant illness (BII) which includes a multitude of symptoms.

Breast Implant Illness Symptoms, According to Breastcancer.org

  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Memory and concentration problems
  • Breathing problems
  • Sleep disturbance
  • Rashes and skin problems
  • Dry mouth and dry eyes
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • Hair loss
  • Gastrointestinal problems

In most cases, these symptoms go away after extraction of the implant occurs, the organization said.

In the video, Bunnie explained that she got her implants removed in November 2020 after doctors were unable to pinpoint what was causing her to start suffering various symptoms.

She then pulled an implant out from a plastic bag and held it up to the camera.

"Look at that," she said while moving the yellowed implant in her hand. "That goes inside of a human body. Look at the mold."

In the video, various brown dots lined the implant and the liquid inside turned to a yellow color.

"No wonder why women are having so many complications with these things," she said, still holding the implant. "It's disgusting."

Bunnie then removed the other implant from the bag and held it up to the camera. Inside the implant was mold floating around inside the discolored saline.

"That's inside the implant," she said. "I'm so thankful I had my breasts explanted. Women, if you're suffering from any sort of symptoms, definitely check out BII and this is what the inside of your implants probably look like."

More than 4,200 users commented on the TikTok, many saying implants are meant to be replaced every few years and others saying they know people who are in chronic pain because they refuse to look into implant extraction.

"Implants aren't meant to be permanent you have to replace them after so many years," one user commented.

"Girl I work at a senior center and we have someone who STILL HAS HER IMPLANTS AND she's in soooo much pain everyday," one user commented. "Like she cries from pain."

"It always disturbed me as a nurse a iv bag of saline has an exp date why doesn't implants?" another user asked.

"You're supposed to get new ones every 10 years," another user wrote. "At least that's what my moms doctor told her."

"One of my really good friends just had hers removed cause she was having so many symptoms from them," another user commented. "She said she wish she never got them."
