Which Coaches Have Won 'The Voice' the Most Times?

The Voice Season 21 is now over, with Girl Named Tom the latest winner of the NBC show. The three-piece band win a recording contract and a $1 million prize, while coach Kelly Clarkson wins bragging rights as the latest winning coach.

This, of course, is not the first time that Team Kelly has been named victorious. Most recently, the "Since U Been Gone" singer won the fall 2019 season (Season 17) after Jake Hoot won the top prize.

Though Clarkson has been the winning coach numerous times, she is still not the mentor who has won The Voice the most times.

Here's who's beating her for the top spot—and where all the judges fall on the all-time judges' leaderboard.

Who has won The Voice the most times?

In the 10-year history of The Voice, there have been 15 full-time coaches. Of these, nine have coached an act who won their season: Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Gwen Stefani, and of course Clarkson herself.

Of these, Clarkson is one of only three judges to have won the show multiple times. She, Levine and Shelton have each been named the champion coach at least three times.

Here's how the leaderboard stands as of The Voice Season 21 (which ended in December 2021):

4=:

  • Usher, Season 6 (winning act Josh Kaufman)
  • Pharrell Williams, Season 8 (Sawyer Fredericks)
  • Christina Aguilera, Season 10 (Alisan Porter)
  • Alicia Keys, Season 12 (Chris Blue)
  • John Legend, Season 16 (Maelyn Jarmon)
  • Gwen Stefani, Season 19 (Carter Rubin)

3: Adam Levine. The Maroon 5 lead singer has won three times:

  • Season 1 (Javier Colon)
  • Season 5 (Tessanne Chin)
  • Season 9 (Jordan Smith)

2: Kelly Clarkson. The singer has won The Voice four times:

  • Season 14 (Brynn Cartelli)
  • Season 15 (Chevel Shepherd)
  • Season 17 (Jake Hoot)
  • Season 21 (Girl Named Tom)

1: Blake Shelton. The country star has won eight times:

  • Season 2 (Jermaine Paul)
  • Season 3 (Cassadee Pope)
  • Season 4 (Danielle Bradbery)
  • Season 7 (Craig Wayne Boyd)
  • Season 11 (Sundance Head)
  • Season 13 (Chloe Kohanski)
  • Season 18 (Todd Tilghman)
  • Season 20 (Cam Anthony)

Shelton may have a substantial lead, but he has also had an advantage: He has been a coach on every single season of The Voice over the last 10 years.

This means that, while he might have the most wins, other judges have higher winning percentages. Shelton has won around 38 percent of the seasons he has been a part of. Clarkson, meanwhile, has won four of the eight seasons that she was a part of—a win rate of 50 percent. Her win percentage is matched by that of Usher, who won one of the two seasons he coached.

The Voice returns for Season 22 in 2022. Season 21 is streaming now on Peacock and Hulu.
