Hollywood action star Vin Diesel used his acceptance speech during Wednesday's People's Choice Awards to pay tribute to his late The Fast and the Furious co-star Paul Walker.

Walker died at the age of 40 in 2013 in a car accident in Santa Clarita, California, midway through production on Fast & Furious 7.

Accepting the award for favorite movie and favorite action movie on behalf of the producers of Fast & Furious 7 , Diesel revealed that the filmmakers were reluctant to complete the seventh instalment following the actor's death, before he began singing Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again."

"We didn't want to come back when the tragedy was too heavy," Diesel said. "It was the love of everyone combined that saw us through the end."

This is not the first time that Diesel has performed the song, which was recorded specifically for the Fast & Furious 7 soundtrack. The actor also sang it at the MTV Music Awards in April last year.
