Bad weather could affect Thanksgiving travel for Americans across the country, forecasters have warned.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said thunderstorms and heavy rain extending from the Lower Mississippi Valley to the Northeast were possible due to a storm system set to develop in the days leading up to Thanksgiving.
"A cold front is producing strong winds, high-elevation snows, coastal and valley rains, and a surge of cold air across much of the western U.S this weekend," the NWS said in an advisory.
"A pre-Thanksgiving storm may bring areas of severe thunderstorms, gusty winds, heavy rain, and heavy snow from the central to the eastern U.S. early in the week which will impact travel."
However, temperatures will be generally seasonable for the East Coast in the coming days, although they may dip below average across much of the West.
Here, Newsweek rounds up the Thanksgiving Day forecast for some major U.S. cities.
