Every year, when the Academy Award nominations roll around, even the most hard-core film aficionados have a rough time seeing all the films or hearing all the nominated songs.
But now a one-stop shop allows fans to peruse a list of platforms, including streaming and old-fashioned community movie theaters -- for viewing the critically acclaimed films before the 91st Academy Awards airs on ABC on February 24, starting at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. PT. Oh, and in keeping with this list supplied by Tim Chan of Variety, it's just as important to know that Hulu will stream live the Oscars.
The academy announced the Oscar nominees Tuesday morning, so even the most rabid fans have time to watch them all if they start now.
If you don't have a flat-screen antenna, which are much more common for those not spending money on cable, there are several on the market.
Best Picture – Black Panther and BlacKkKlansman stream on Amazon. Roma streams in the theaters and on Netflix. The rest of the nominees in this category screen in the movie theaters; for tickets and show times, see Fandango and simply plug in the film of your choice: Bohemian Rhapsody, The Favourite, Green Book, A Star Is Born and Vice.
Animated Feature – Incredibles 2 and Isle of Dogs stream on Amazon. Nominees showing in the theaters: Mirai, Ralph Breaks the Internet and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Documentary Feature – Popular RBG and Free Solo stream on Amazon. Hale County This Morning, This Evening streams on iTunes. Minding the Gap streams on Hulu and Of Fathers and Sons is in the theaters.
Foreign Language Film – Roma streams on Netflix and in the theaters. All the rest are in select theaters: Capernaum, Cold War, Never Look Away and Shoplifters.
Original Score – Stream via Amazon all the music nominees: Terence Blanchard of BlacKkKlansman, Alexandre Desplat of Isle of Dogs, Nicholas Britell of If Beale Street Could Talk, Ludwig Goransson of Black Panther and the team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman of Mary Poppins Returns.
Original Song – Stream via Amazon all the song titles and their respective films: All the Stars from Black Panther, I'll Fight from RBG, The Place Where Lost Things Go from Mary Poppins Returns, Shallow from A Star Is Born and When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
