The Rolling Stones' first major U.S. concert tour in four years will have to wait a little longer, as the rock superstars announced Saturday they have had to postpone all upcoming North American dates on its "No Filter" tour.
The tour is not canceled, according to a statement posted on the band's official website, but all 13 of the planned shows have been delayed until the tour is rescheduled.
If you are one of the hundreds of thousands of Stones fans who purchased tickets to a postponed concert, the band said there is no need to do anything. Your existing tickets will still be valid for when the Stones do eventually go on tour. The band's statement promised that rescheduled dates "will be announced shortly."
The cause of the postponement appeared to be the health of Mick Jagger. The band's 75-year-old lead singer "has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible."
Jagger released a statement of his own, apologizing to Stones fans who purchased tickets.
"I'm so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets, I really hate letting you down like this," read the statement. "I'm devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone."
