On Sunday, Melrose Place actor Heather Locklear was arrested for battery on a police officer and suspicion of felony domestic violence. Authorities went to a home in Thousand Oaks, California, after they received a report of domestic violence, TMZ wrote on Monday.
According to posts on her official Instagram account, Locklear and her boyfriend, Chris Heisser, are high school sweethearts who have been dating for several months. They got together after Locklear broke up with her boyfriend of three years, plastic surgeon Marc Mani.
Heisser was not specifically identified as the alleged victim in the domestic abuse case, though the Associated Press wrote the victim was Locklear's live-in boyfriend.
In order for Locklear to be charged with suspicion of felony domestic abuse, a physical injury on the alleged victim would have to be present. Ventura County sheriff's Capt. Garo Kuredjian told the AP the man declined treatment. Details about the alleged victim's injury were not immediately known.
While she was being arrested, Locklear was reportedly combative and attacked three officers. Three counts of misdemeanor battery on a police officer were added to her arrest. Locklear was taken to a hospital for medical clearance before she was booked at county jail.
"She was extremely hostile and uncooperative and at one point became combative with the deputies" and impeded their investigation, Ventura County Sheriff's Sgt. Eric Buschow told the Los Angeles Times on Monday. She resisted arrest and fought back as police tried to put her in the patrol car.
Locklear, 56, posted $20,000 in bail on Monday, Buschow told the Los Angeles Times. Her court date was scheduled for March 13 at Ventura County Superior Court.
The actor is best known for her appearances on television shows in the 1980s and 1990s like Dynasty, T.J. Hooker and Melrose Place. She was previously married to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee from 1994 to 2007, and Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora from 1986 to 1993.
Locklear has a history of domestic violence. She was engaged to Melrose Place actor Jack Wagner, but they ended things in 2011 after they allegedly became physical with each other. "She lost it on him and he retaliated," a police officer told TMZ at the time.
