On November 22, the 48th American Music Awards will take place in Los Angeles and feature star-studded performances from some of the biggest names in music like Megan Thee Stallion and Bad Bunny.
The fan-voted award show will air on ABC at 8 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted from the Microsoft Theater. The show will be hosted by Empire actress Taraji P. Henson. The nominees for the awards were announced back in October, with The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch both gaining the most nods, receiving eight nominations each. Each were nominated for the coveted "Artist of the Year" award. Ricch was also nominated for "New Artist of the Year." Rapper Megan Thee Stallion received the second most nominations with five.
On Tuesday, the AMAs announced a few new artists scheduled to perform on the award show, alongside the previously announced performers: BTS and Dua Lipa. The performers for the award show are as follows:
Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez-"Dakiti"
Latin trap star Bad Bunny will be joined by up-and-coming reggaeton singer Jhay Cortez to mark the massive crossover appeal that Latin music has seen in mainstream music in recent years.
Lil Baby-"Emotionally Scarred"
The Atlanta rapper will celebrate a massive year with the debut performance of his single "Emotionally Scarred" from his February album My Turn.
Megan Thee Stallion
Mendes isn't the only singer with a few tricks up his sleeve. Megan Thee Stallion will make her AMAs debut this year. The song she'll perform and any possible collaborators have yet to be announced. With the success of both "Savage" and her team effort with Cardi B "WAP," there's plenty of room for both fan favorite mega-hits or a completely unexpected surprise. While it's unclear what she has in store, an AMAs Spotify playlist of the performers does feature the Beyoncé remix of "Savage." While nothing is certain, a live Queen Bey feature would absolutely be a highlight for the award show.
Shawn Mendes
While the song he'll perform has yet to be announced, a press release for the show announced that he will give fans the unexpected from the moment he takes the stage. Mendes' 2019 performance of "Señorita" was a standout from last year's AMAs. Mendes recently announced his next album Wonder, but he has yet to release many details besides the title-track and first single. Perhaps he'll perform "Wonder" or a yet to be released track from the album. The aforementioned AMAs Spotify playlist includes "Wonder."
Dua Lipa-"Levitating"
The British popstar was announced as a performer as she announced the nominees for this year's show. She's expected to perform "Levitating" from her album Future Nostalgia.
BTS-"Dynamite" and "Life Goes On"
The K-pop sensations are set to perform their first English-language single "Dynamite" as well as the yet to be released song "Life Goes On," from their upcoming album Be, according to Billboard.
Fans can vote for their favorite artists to win AMAs on the Billboard website.
