Who Is Rogelio Santander? Dallas Police Officer Killed in Home Depot Shooting

The police officer killed in a shooting at a Home Depot in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday was identified as Rogelio Santander, reports local affiliate KDFW. Mayor Mike Rawlings said during a city council meeting that Santander died around 8 a.m. Wednesday, reported the New York Daily News.

The shooting took place at around 5 p.m. local time. Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said officers were called to the store for "assistance for an arrest" when they were shot. Two other people were also shot: another police officer, who remained in critical condition, and a civilian identified as a loss prevention officer at the store, whose condition remained unknown.

Dallas Police identified Armando Juarez, 29, as a person of interest in the shooting during a press conference Tuesday evening. Juarez, whom police considered armed and dangerous, reportedly fled the scene in a white pickup truck. After a manhunt, authorities arrested Juarez.

"I do not have all the details of how he was able to get a gun and shoot all three of the officers at the Home Depot location," Hall said. "We're still investigating and reviewing video."

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call 911.
