Award-winning actors Tom Hiddleston and Zawe Ashton recently confirmed their engagement, and on Wednesday, June 29, they revealed the happy news that they're expecting their first child together.

Hiddleston and Ashton began dating after they co-starred in the 2019 play Betrayal on Broadway and they have been inseparable ever since, making their red carpet debut at the 2022 Tony Awards in September.

Ashton debuted her growing baby bump at a special screening of Mr. Malcolm's List in New York City on Wednesday, wearing a bead-embellished tulle gown by Sabina Bilenko Couture.

Her partner, Hiddleston, is best known for playing Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and as Jonathan Pine in The Night Manager. Fans want to know everything about Ashton following their announcement.

1. Zawe Ashton Has an Impressive Acting Resume

Zawe Ashton is an English actress, narrator, playwright and director.

She is best known for her role as Vod in comedy-drama Fresh Meat and Katherine in Not Safe for Work.

Most recently, she starred in The Handmaid's Tale as Oona, alongside Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski and Madeline Brewer.

Ashton can next be seen in the period-drama film, Mr. Malcom's List, starring alongside Freida Pinto, Sope Dirisu, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Ashley Park and Theo James.

Ashton is also well known for portraying Joyce Carol Vincent in the drama-documentary Dreams of a Life, Claire in Wanderlust, and Journey Blue in Doctor Who.

Her other well-known credits include Nocturnal Animals, Greta and St Trinians 2.

She starred in Harold Pinter's Betrayal in London's West End and on Broadway, and she met Hiddleston during that production.

2. Zawe Ashton Has Starred in a Netflix Horror

In 2019, Zawe Ashton starred in the Netflix horror Velvet Buzzsaw, directed by Dan Gilroy.

She played the role of Josephina, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Toni Collette, Daveed Diggs, Nitya Vidyasagar, Tom Sturridge, Natalia Dyer, Billy Magnussen, Mig Macario and John Malkovich.

3. Zawe Ashton Has Joined the MCU

Zawe Ashton will star as a villain in the 2023 MCU movie, The Marvels.

For now, her role has been kept under wraps, but she will join forces with Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms.Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.

4. Zawe Ashton's Grandfather Is a former President

Zawe Ashton was born in Hackney in east London to a Ugandan mother, Victoria, and an English father, Paul Ashton. She is the eldest of three children.

Ashton's parents met when they worked together as teachers. Her father commissioned education programs for Channel 4, details Distractify.

Speaking to The Guardian, Ashton described her parents as her "favorite double act" of comedy and shared that her father inspired her playwriting career.

Her maternal grandfather was Paulo Muwanga, who was briefly the president and then prime minister of Uganda during the 1980s.

Zawe Ashton won London's Poetry Slam Championship in 2000 and her first play, Harm's Way, premiered at the Lowry in Salford in 2008 as part of the National Youth Theatre's new writing season.

Her other well-known plays are Skunk, She from the Sea and For all the Women Who Thought They Were Mad.

She published her first book, Character Breakdown, in 2019, a fictionalized memoir based on her own experiences as an actress.
