Woman Asks Partner To Help Relieve Headache, Takes Request Too Literally

When it comes to headaches, most will try "anything" to get some relief. One woman's experience, though, is good evidence not to.

A viral video posted by Jacquie Smith (@jacquiersmith) revealed an incident with her boyfriend after asking him to put the can on her head that was aching. Unfortunately, he took it literally, pouring Coke onto her hair. Smith spoke to Newsweek about the ridiculous misunderstanding, which has received over 344,000 likes and nearly 1,500 comments since it was posted.

"Last night, my boyfriend and I got in late, and he had a cold can of Coca Cola. I had a headache and asked if he'd put it on my head while I was lying down, hoping the cold would help," she captioned the video. "He then persisted to pour his drink over my head, on my hair that I'd washed that day. It was 1 A.M. And when I asked him why he thought I meant, 'Pour it on my head,' he just said, 'I'm not 100 per cent sure...sorry."

Smith said the pair had been out to a show beforehand and had some to drink, though she didn't drink much as she was suffering from a headache.

"When we got back, my headache was dreadful," she said. "Instead of the can behind placed on my head, he tipped it upside down and the drink poured over my head instead. I'd only washed my hair that morning too. Girls will understand that one best I think."

Smith said her surprise was what made him stop and realize what he'd done.

"He stopped after seeing the look of shock on my face and we burst out laughing," she said. "He said he thinks it must have been an intrusive thought and a mix of being drunk."

She said the couple does play pranks on each other sometimes—every so often, she will jump out from behind something and scare him.

"It's probably karma," she said of the Coke incident.

Viewers in the comments could surprisingly relate: "I was doing the dishes with my ex and he held up a bowl of left over salad, and asked me what he should do with it," @bamboleo19 wrote. "I said put it in the bin. When I turned around, he was looking confused with the whole glass...bowl in the bin! With the salad still in it!"

"Once asked my boyfriend to chop some onions for the Bolognese I was making. He then put the onions in the boiling spaghetti and said, 'That doesn't look right,'" @dxllaxs wrote.

Some, despite the seemingly ignorant act, found the intention of care underneath it all.

"It's actually kind of sweet that without a second thought he tipped his cold can of Coke that he was probably enjoying because he thought you needed it," @politeboybenjamin wrote.
