'Oh No': Woman's Terrible David Bowie Tattoo Leaves Internet Speechless

When Alyna Chowdhury asked for a tattoo in tribute to one of her favorite artists, she wasn't expecting the eventual result.

Ten years later, she shared her tattoo of the "Let's Dance" singer on Reddit, where people have been left stunned by the difference between what Chowdhury asked for, and what she got.

"I asked for David Bowie/Aladdin Sane lightning bolt and eyes," Chowdhury told Newsweek. But. in comparison between pictures of the inspiration and the result, there was a clear difference—and hundreds of Reddit users shared their reactions.

"I'm so sorry for how hard I laughed at this," posted one commenter, while another fittingly wrote: "Ground control to Major Tom... We have a situation with art gone wrong on a permanent level."

With a slightly off-center oversized lightning bolt, Bowie's eyes in the tattoo appeared a little too far apart and were in two different colors.

"I explained to the artist that Bowie had a dilated pupil in one eye because of a fight with George Underwood. Bowie didn't have heterochromia [when a person has differently colored eyes or eyes that have more than one color]," said Chowdhury.

Recalling when she had the tattoo done a decade earlier, Chowdhury added that she noticed only when it was completed.

"Because it's on my ankle, I wasn't watching while it was being put on me. When I looked at the finished product, I said 'Oh no,'" she said.

Recalling the day of the tattoo, Chowdhury is pretty sure she knew why it didn't go to plan: "The entire time I was getting the tattoo he was telling me about how much he partied that night. I'm pretty sure he hadn't slept. I figured [there was] no point in trying to get him to fix it because he could just make it worse," Chowdhury added.

"Ironically, prior to this tattoo, the same artist gave me my best tattoo. I also have a beautiful sleeve [tattoo] from him. I definitely found a new artist after this one, though," she added.

Last year, one man's tattoo was dubbed "too awful to be real" after he asked for a wolf design that didn't go to plan.

Thankfully, though, Chowdhury doesn't harbor negative feelings about the Bowie tattoo, even seeing the positives in it.

"After 10 years, it doesn't bother me THAT much anymore," she said. "I've thought about going to someone else to get it fixed, but it's also kind of fun having a s***** tattoo just so I can see people's looks of horror when I show it to them."
