Woman Says Daily Massage Transformed Her Face—But Not Everyone's Convinced

Every year, more than 15 million cosmetic procedures are done in the U.S., and it's thought that around 92 percent of those are on women. But what if you get could get the same results without paying a dime, or even leaving your home?

That's exactly what Chana Goyons claims, as she says she transformed her face without having to go under the knife. What's her secret, I hear you ask? Well, the 20-year-old's simple trick was supposedly a quick facial massage once or twice a day, for around 10 minutes each time.

When she started doing the massage every morning, Goyons, from Saint-Tropez, France, told Newsweek that she noticed results "at the end of the first week." Now, hardly a day goes by without adding it to her routine because she wants to maintain the positive results.

"My eyes are lifted, no more hooded eyes, my cheeks got lifted, my nose looks skinnier, my jawline is defined, and my face seems less puffy," Goyons said. "It's a massage that everyone can do with their hands and with shea butter, that only takes 10 minutes and it will give you amazing results to sculpt your face."

Goyons shared a video on TikTok on January 20, revealing her face shape "before trying the viral face lift massage," and then in the months after. The unbelievable contrast has left many TikTokers speechless, as the video has already been viewed over 8.7 million times and received more than 742,100 likes at the time of writing.

Goyons was inspired to try the daily massage trick after seeing other TikTokers try out their gua sha tools, which is a smooth-sided tool that is pressed onto the skin. This led the student to discover the viral face lift method, which involves gently rolling the skin on the face and increasing blood flow all over.

People can pinch parts of the face and lift the skin upwards over the cheeks, which makes it appear more sculpted and plump.

Can a Daily Face Massage Actually Work?

With numerous TikTokers taking to social media to share the results of the daily massage trick, it's becoming even more tempting to give it a try. And while it's often advisable to take anything on social media with a pinch (read: bucket) of salt, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Chere Lucas explained that this simple method can indeed work wonders as it reduces swelling and promotes circulation.

Lucas told Newsweek: "A facial massage helps to increase blood flow to deliver more oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, for a brighter and more radiant complexion. It can also help lift and firm the facial muscles, toning and strengthening them to help prevent skin from sagging.

"In addition to improved blood circulation and stimulating the production of collagen, a regular facial massage can promote lymphatic drainage that will help to reduce puffiness and swelling. This natural technique of removing excess fluid and toxins can give the face a more sculpted and defined appearance."

There are certainly many perks, but Lucas, of the Rendon Center for Dermatology and Aesthetic Medicine in Florida, says that being too vigorous can aggravate the skin and potentially damage blood vessels. Not to mention, sanitation is key and if people use their hands without proper cleaning, it's possible to transfer germs to the skin via the massage.

"Also, it's important to consider overstimulation of the skin, whereby excessive facial massage movements can overstimulate the skin, leading to increased oil production, sensitivity or disruption of the skin's natural barrier function," Lucas continued.

How Did Social Media React?

Millions of social media users were amazed to see the transformation in Goyons' face, and she's encouraged others to try this daily trick out for themselves. However, not everyone is convinced that she managed to make such a change in her looks naturally.

"Some people don't believe me and think that it's surgery, which is OK because the results are so amazing, so I understand where they're coming from. And others really want to try it and are asking me a lot of questions and they want advice about doing it," she said.

For anyone who is considering it, Goyons insists that they have to be consistent and ensure they do it every day without fail. Fortunately for her, she finds it "so satisfying" to do, so she enjoys finding time for it each morning.

Among the 900 comments on the post, many people were shocked to see how different she looks. One comment reads: "did you use gua sha or the face lift massager? Can u do a tutorial please?"

Another person responded: "Face massage really a game changer."

While one TikToker wrote: "Oh yes works like a charm."
