Woman's Final Heartwarming Wish Helps Animals in Need

The final wishes of a woman in Mexico have caught the attention of the internet after her heartwarming actions helped animals that need it most.

In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, Mundo Animal Reynosa (an animal rescue center in Reynosa, Mexico) shared the kindness, as they wrote: "RIP Eva María Garcia Davila. That a person's love for animals can be so great that they thought of them until their last days, and even later."

Alicia Acevdeo from Mundo Animal Reynosa told Newsweek: "Since the first message from the family letting us know about Ms. Eva's last will, my eyes got teary. My voice cracks every time I think of her because I know she was a true animal lover. Very few people these days care for animals and Mrs. Eva was one of those special people."

As of 2022, there are are over 3,500 animal shelters in the U.S., with roughly 6.3 million animals entering their doors each year.

Animal shelters often rely on support from the public to keep essential services running and help animals in need.

In the Facebook post, Mundo Animal Reynosa wrote: "This food is blessed and we will share that blessing with those who need it most. It will be delivered to our fellow rescuers who serve the streets every day. To honor and fulfill the wish of Mrs. Eva María, an angel for the animals."

Recent reports show that charitable donations are on the rise in the U.S. The 2021 annual report by Giving USA said Americans gave $471.44 billion in 2020, a decent 5.1 percent increase from 2019.

While giving increased in nearly every sector, there was a particular growth for environmental and animal-based causes, with an estimated 11.6 percent increase.

Commenters on the Facebook post shared their thoughts about the woman's kind gesture. One user wrote: "What a great heart this human being had, may she rest in peace," while another said: "RIP. Thank you for supporting those beautiful beings who give us so much love."

Acevdeo said: "The food is going to dogs in need. I think this is what Mrs. Eva wanted. Her love for animals has spread where it is most needed."

Donorbox non-profit blog reported in 2021 that legacy fundraising (where charity donations are left in an individual's last will and testament) accounts for nearly eight percent of U.S. charity donations.

Plus, a study by Indiana University found that donors who included a charity in their will gave more than twice as much to charity in annual gifts.

Among the well-wishes on the Facebook post, one user said: "People like her should be eternal... Rest in peace beautiful lady," while another said: "What a big heart this human being had. May she rest in peace."

In the post, Mundo Animal Reynosa said: "We really don't have words to express what we feel after such a beautiful gesture. Thank you Mrs. Eva, Thank you"
